Image of Rossendale Museum
Rossendale Museum is housed in a 19th century mill owner's residence built in 1840 for the Hardman family, overlooking their woollen mill at New Hall Hey. The museum was opened in 1902 after the house and grounds was purchased by local businessman, Richard Whittaker, who presented them to his native town of Rawtenstall.
The museum retains much of the character of the original house. Displays include a late Victorian drawing room, fine arts, furniture and a natural history section.
