DAY ZERO - June 1st 2003
It was my mission (and I foolishly
chose to accept it) to get this 1975 SAAB 95 V4 into splendid and highly tuned
condition before the UK SAAB Owners Club Gathering at the end of July 2003.
I have spent several years hunting down and paying too much money for various
varieties of Swedish rocking horse sh*t to make this
happen. Thanks to everybody who has helped me part with my cash and given
me advice and assistance.
Now my collection is almost complete and PROJECT 95 V4 has begun. I thought
that while I was at it, I would document the process via the magic of this
site and provide a resource for all you V4 owners out there. It has been difficult
for me to find sources for parts as people who REALLY know about V4's and
are willing to give out any helpful information are very thin on the ground.
Unfortunately the bodyshop that was due to blast, weld and paint it for me
suddenly had a rush on, so they screwed my schedule up completely. I've now
found someone to blast the body for me, who I can trust not to destroy the
car. I've visited some of these guys who do truck blasting and I wouldn't
like to let them within a mile of my lovely Swedish steel.
I've now abandoned Project 95 V4 for the time being, due to lack of funds. Fortunately, I have a running '73 96 in the garage which I intend to get on the road in the next couple of months. Watch this space for progress reports on 'Project Gnarly 96!'
