Project 95 V4 - Day 11

State of play on day 11. You can also see our '72 96 in the garage behind.

Progress is slower than I'd hoped, but at this point, I have removed the engine, transmission, exhaust and three of the wings. As you can imagine, the rear wing was particularly awkward. The three bolts on the top of the wing in the middle seem to have caused most trouble. But, I only snapped two. I'd rather have them snap than round off, at least you can get the wing off without resorting to drilling. The others came out fine. Liberal application of WD40, a bit of blowtorching and lots of grunting and swearing seemed to do the trick. The other rear wing is yet to come!

The engine came out without any problems. It probably took 25 minutes from start to finish. The gearbox needed a bit of a whack on the rear mounting(inside the car), but was persuaded out fairly rapidly.

Replacement doors have been stuck on. I bought these a few weeks ago as part of a £150 job lot from a Welsh bloke. They are straight and have no rot. The only slight problem is a split in the thin section just below the window. But this should be easily repairable.

Unfortunately, removal of the rear wing revealed a bit of a horror story of rust. It's not totally rotten, but will need a bit of welding.
This is the worst bit I've found do far. The floor & sills have been welded in the past so they're solid enough.
